What makes you think I'm only asking you? Someone else is providing the snake.
[He has asked no one else and doesn't expect Remy to do it either. He just needs something to distract him from going to kill Winter right now because that would leave Wrath unguarded. Priorities!]
Ah! My ego! Your aim be true, you hurt me, bleu. Also, I failed to pick up any glitter at our last stop over, but you can help me cut up a bunch of gum packets if you really want something shiny. [Remy was more than ok with acting as a distraction, very capable of filling the void with talk.]
The lady is the one making the requests, not me. I know it breaks your heart, Remy, but you're not on the list of people in the Fleet I'd like to see disrobe.
[It took so much effort not to roll his eyes at the mention of Rogue's beau, then again Remy was use to biting his tongue about his opinion on Loki around others.] Ya know, the other way 'round, if ya were a homme, would call for a joke 'bout bein' whipped 'bout havin' to call home to be allowed to stay out.
[Glancing at her over his sunglasses, Remy raised a brow before grinning at her.] Now I didn't claim my jokes were 'ny good, ya know. 'nd also know I couldn't really make that joke 'round ya, short of gettin' hit for it.
[Despite a couple of more stops on the way to make sure she wasn't straining herself, the last of the day's sun was vanishing past the treeline as they made themselves to the tree's location. Remy had fished out a light for her to carry, his own flashlight in hand as they walked to make sure they weren't going to trip up on any roots or other foliage.
Pausing just beyond that invisible boundary that seemed to sit around the tree, Remy turned his eyes upwards to the red leaves and intertwined trunk system as his light shone up against the bark. It was quite a site, almost worth the trek in by itself.]
[Feeling cold and exhausted, Rogue was relieved when they finally reached the tree. There was one good thing about it hurting this much to walk: As long as she was concentrating on that, she couldn't think about anything else. She made a point to closely observe their rest stops as she had an idea for how to get them back to the fleet a bit more quickly once they got to the tree.
...and the tree was...] Woah. Lookit the size of this thing.
Yeah. [His own tone sounding distracted as he looked up at the tree.] Hope it ain't one of those cases of just 'cause it looks the part that people thing it magical.
[Drawing himself out of his gaze, Remy shot a smile in her direction.] Why don't ya stretch out a bit to help those muscles of ya's 'nd I'll set 'nough up so we comfortable while we here. [The temperature had dropped a bit, it was smart for them to wrap up while they were out here.]
[They certainly did, and Kirk may be acting as a bit of an outlet for Remy's need for casual touch. He was more careful around others, not wanting to push too much against their personal space and maybe a bit out of habit from being around mutants who needed space for their mutations. Kirk helped him to act out that craving, that need to be in contact with others, even if it was only a brush of a hand or bump of a shoulder.
The waggle of Kirk's eyebrows also incited laughter from Remy.] That be a fine point ya got there, cher. Would hate to miss out on such a chance at such an exotic location.
[ Kirk liked being touched, so it worked out. He had liked it before, and he liked it more now - craved it even - since a certain incident. So it was always nice to find someone to help indulge in that. He liked this, liked what he had with Remy. If there was one good to thing to come of being in the Fleet, it was his friendship with Remy. ]
Yes, good, you're starting to get it. One must enjoy as much of a new locale as possible before having to move on.
[ That sultry little smirk is back, leaving Remy to decide precisely what he meant by that as they rounded the corner and started towards the springs building up ahead. ]
[Remy opened his mouth, ready to say something along the lines of the catch phrase from the 'show' Remy had recognized Kirk from originally, but was quick to bite his tongue and find a replacement. As funny as it was in his mind to make a joke about 'where no man had gone before'.] Almost diplomatic, non? Be the right thing to do, not that I do that often.
[Fishing out his share of the currency he had on him (really, couldn't they make an easier to carry money system?), Remy allowed James to barter their entry and privacy price, handing over a handful of money as required to help their plea.]
Very diplomatic. And it helps when writing up reports later. We wouldn't
want to disseminate false information, would we?
[ Between them they had enough for a sufficient bribe to get one of
the smaller pools to themselves for an hour. It wasn't very long, but it
would be long enough. Kirk went straight to the room rather than stopping
off in the changing area, stripping down clinically rather than trying to
be sexy - their time would be better spent in the water, yes? He stretched
in the nude and went to slip into the water, turning to Remy. ]
[Remy made sure the door was closed behind them before he shrugged off his coat, it joined by his shirt after pulling it off over his head. Toeing off his shoes he smiled over at Kirk.] Good to hear, would hate to end up boilin' ourselves in there. [The rest of his clothing quickly joined that he already took off before stepping into the pool and moving to take a seat.]
Ok, gotta admit, that real nice. [It certainly helped the aches he had gained from taking on labor jobs while on the planet, relaxing back and letting the water do its work on his muscles.]
[ Kirk hollered as loud as the rest of the people in the stadium, leaning back in his plush seat (more like a booth, but it was still plush), raising his glass of booze in exuberance as the nights' festivities began to take off. He couldn't recall exactly how they had scored these tickets - they being himself and Remy - but he was going to enjoy them with his orange band around his arm.
He looked to his companion, grinning brightly in the dimmer lighting (the main show was, of course, the most brightly lit to help the contestants gleam the brightest). ]
You going to put down bets? Buy me something nice?
Ya say that like I would have to win a bid to do that, [Remy grinned and sent a wink in Kirk's direction, having 'borrowed' an orange band from someone at random, knowing better than to go wearing Savvy colors in a Moxie location. This wasn't his first rodeo, he knew well how different Guilds worked, even if at home there was no way for Remy to pretend he wasn't a Thief. His face and name was just too well known.] 'nd 'm goin' to hold off 'til I get an idea who got the best odds. I bid to win, not to gamble.
[Now this, this was good fun. Sitting back with some good drink and a bit of food (really, whatever that fried tentacle thing was actually a hell of a lot better than it looked). The fact it was with one of his favorite people, well that made it all the much better.]
Doesn't that make it less fun? I thought the point of betting was the risk
of the win-or-lose, which makes it sweeter when you win.
[ He grinned broadly at his companion, taking a swig of what pass for
alcohol, nearly burning his throat but wanting to seem perfectly game to
those around them. Blending mode activated. He flung his arms back behind
their seats, smirking as he brushed his fingers through the short hairs on
Remy's neck. ]
[Remy playfully tsked Kirk's summing up of the situation, giving a shake of his head over the edge of his glass before pausing to take a sip from it. He also made a point to ignore the extra burn the drink had, while being use to strong drinks Remy was considering taking some back for cleaning the engines in the ships.] Ya sayin' I don't 'live' as it be? I say 'm doin' pretty well without riskin' m' coin. [A hand moved to rest against Jim's knee and giving it a pat.]
[ It did have a bite, didn't it? Kirk was sure his eyes had watered
for a moment, but he didn't want to seem like he couldn't hold is liquor
around their hosts, so he had kept it down and prayed that his stomach and
throat didn't have chemical burns by the end of the night. ]
Well come on, where's the thrill if you simply know you're going to
win?
[ He scooted a bit closer, working his fingers harder against the back
of Remy's neck, as if to ease the pain of that alcohol going down. ]
[ Kurt had gone back and forth about having this conversation for months, at least. The need had pressed more on his mind after Kirk's birthday, though he'd entertained the possibility before. (But he entertains many possibilities, some of which even Kitty never hears a whisper of.)
Finally, he types up a quick message and hits send before he loses his nerve. Again. ]
Nothing that can't wait. [The answer came not too long afterwards, having got his hands on his com and reading the question.] What can I do for you, cher?
