Doesn't that make it less fun? I thought the point of betting was the risk
of the win-or-lose, which makes it sweeter when you win.
[ He grinned broadly at his companion, taking a swig of what pass for
alcohol, nearly burning his throat but wanting to seem perfectly game to
those around them. Blending mode activated. He flung his arms back behind
their seats, smirking as he brushed his fingers through the short hairs on
Remy's neck. ]
[Remy playfully tsked Kirk's summing up of the situation, giving a shake of his head over the edge of his glass before pausing to take a sip from it. He also made a point to ignore the extra burn the drink had, while being use to strong drinks Remy was considering taking some back for cleaning the engines in the ships.] Ya sayin' I don't 'live' as it be? I say 'm doin' pretty well without riskin' m' coin. [A hand moved to rest against Jim's knee and giving it a pat.]
[ It did have a bite, didn't it? Kirk was sure his eyes had watered
for a moment, but he didn't want to seem like he couldn't hold is liquor
around their hosts, so he had kept it down and prayed that his stomach and
throat didn't have chemical burns by the end of the night. ]
Well come on, where's the thrill if you simply know you're going to
win?
[ He scooted a bit closer, working his fingers harder against the back
of Remy's neck, as if to ease the pain of that alcohol going down. ]
[If Kirk was showing issues with the drink, Remy didn't mention anything, not calling his friend out over such a thing.] All depends what 'm gamblin' with. Certainly glad the gamble I took chattin' with ya the first time. [Then flashing one of his best, well practiced, and charming smiles at Kirk.]
[ Oh, you charmer Remy. Kirk laughed and leaned over, giving him a
quick kiss on the lips for that line. It was ridiculous, but it was one of
the things he appreciated about Remy - cheesy and ridiculous. ]
I'm glad you took that bet too. I keep winning every time you do.
[ A wink, turning his attention briefly to the arena and cheering with
the rest of the crowd. ]
[That laugh had only caused Remy's grin to grow wider. Kirk as always stroking his ego and making Remy want to keep finding ways to keep getting such reactions out of his friend. Lingering on the feel of that kiss for a long moment, he eventually took another sip of his drink as his eyes moved away from the other man and back to the arena. He directed his question to Kirk despite still being focused on the events happening before them, voiced raised enough to be heard over the crowd.] Ya been to much like this on other planets back home?
There's some that have a resemblance, but nothing quite like this. We've
come across distinct factions before, but this is... ah, a bit extreme I
would say.
[ He shook his head, tossing back his drink - only to squint and
leaning forward, putting a hand on the table for balance as he suddenly
felt incredibly dizzy, a dull pain throbbing at the back of his head and
along his neck. His groan was hidden by the noise, even as he held his head
in one hand for a moment to let the feeling pass. ]
Damn, this stuff is almost as bad as Romulan Ale...
[Raising a brow as Kirk rocked forward, Remy raised a hand to pat the other man's back.] Donno if that makes me wanna try it more or less when ya say that.
Ya ok? [Strong drink or not, he normally wasn't that much of a lightweight, he knew Kirk had a decent tolerance for alcohol. Remy also guessed that it wasn't something bad in the drink for Kirk's species since it wasn't affecting him in the same manner, short of Remy's X gene protecting him. ]
[ He wanted to say he was, but the truth was that he wasn't so sure. There was a sense of dizziness, and he took a few more moments to regain himself before sitting up again slowly. He rubbed his temples and put on a weak smile for Remy. ]
Yeah, I think it's going away. Don't know what that was -
[ It hit again, stronger this time and he audible, groaned, slumping, darkness creeping at the edges of his eyes. ]
[The smile started to slip from Remy's face as Kirk continued to struggle, then vanished completely as he fell.] Jim? [Own drink left forgotten, Remy reached out and grabbed him, shifting so he could lay Kirk down across their seat so he was as close into a recovery position as Remy could put him in for the moment.]
Cher? Can ya hear me? [Remy shook his shoulder, trying to get a response out of him as he looked for signs of him having been drugged via his drink or just far too much alcohol for the night.] Come on, stay 'wake.
[ He tried to say something to reassure him, but the words wouldn't come. Nothing would come. Everything blurred and darkened, a groan the only audible sound he could make before his head slumped and he went fully unconscious and limp against the other man.
Sorry, Remy. Atroma decided to ruin their fun night, it looks like. ]
[Fingers to Kirk's neck, checking for a pulse before also checking his breathing, Remy sat back on his heels with a sigh upon finding them normal, trying to figure out what the hell he was going to do.
He had to get him back to the Tourist.
Feeling a little bad if it was just having one too many drinks, as if he was tattletaling on him, Remy took a moment to contact Beverly Crusher over the coms and giving her a heads up so she could have a look at their fallen captain. After all, it wasn't like Bones was around to lend a hand. But it also left Remy with the issue of how the hell he was going to get Kirk back to his ship. A bit of moving around and struggling with his dead weight on him, Remy eventually managed to get Kirk into a fireman's carry over his shoulders before slowly making his way through the crowd and outside to head to the Tourist.]
