Really? Ya sayin' never done that with ya beau? Seems kinda fair to show it some attention since be askin' something from it, rather than sittin' half a field away from it or something. [Although honestly Remy was only doing it to be comfortable.]
[Had she ever cuddled up with Loki because she wanted something like a present? ...no, no she hadn't. Sometimes she'd used being close in order to get him to calm down or focus, but that wasn't the same thing. She gave Remy a Look.]
Do I really seem like the kinda gal who goes around askin' other people ta get me what I want? [Honestly. She almost had to do the opposite. And she shook her head at him.] An' that seems a sad way of showin' attention, sittin' with your back ta it like that.
[Yep, clearly she wasn't falling for any of it.] What, we should be talkin' to it or offerin' it a gift first or something? Should had hauled some planet food up with us? Or I haul it up since I did all the carryin'. [Remy shot a smirk of a smile over at Rogue.] Come on cherie, night ain't gettin' 'ny younger.
Ha, ha. [Rogue was, perhaps understandably, hesitant to approach the giant tree. She tugged on one glove in a nervous gesture. She'd have to take that off. She'd have to hold his hand.] Ya get ta the point with all your dates like that?
Rollin' 'round under a giant magical tree? Yeah, always. [That smirk didn't move from his face, but maybe softened a bit even in his joking.] Doesn't it for ya?
Aw, ya say the sweetest things to me, Rogue. [Remy placed a hand over his heart, a warm, but fake, smile aimed her way before he let them both drop.] 'nd no, I don't typically have to get to that point with my, ah, 'dates'. [Did they really count as dates? Maybe back home, not so much on the Fleet.]
The fact that ya felt you even needed ta answer that tells me all I need ta know. [She paused shortly before his feet and lightly kicked the sole of his boot.] C'mon, get up if ya wanna get goin'.
[Yeah, she was not looking forward to this part at all. She was trying to put on a bit of a cocky front to put him off the trail of just how uncomfortable this thought was.
...although technically she supposed they didn't say anything about standing in front of the tree. Maybe they could just sit and hold hands?]
What? Ya goin' to make me stand after all that walkin'? [And carrying, but he wasn't going to push that joke more than once, he had been more than happy to carry the bag in exchange for her coming along with him. Her company was worth the few aches of having the bag strapped digging into his shoulders.]
If I can, you can. [Rogue sighed, looking at him. Then she glanced up toward the branches, the brilliant red leaves, then back down to him and the wildflowers and... she almost felt invited to join.
Oh, what the heck, she was tired.] ...scoot over. Might as well give it a try.
[Remy gave her a 'really?' look after glancing at the mass of space either side of him, before a sigh and roll of his eyes and he did in fact 'scoot over' for her. Settling in his new spot now, Remy adjusted his position to get comfortable again.] Come on then.
[Glancing to her, Remy let out a breath, second guessing himself about this all.] I guess it be a little 'nsultin' considerin' we walked out all this way now to say we don't gotta do this. [Yeah, even to his ears that didn't sound right.] Can stop 'ny time though, ya know that, right?
[She gave him a sidelong glance.] You know that, right? If - your shield starts ta fail or anythin' starts ta hurt...
[She bit the inside of her cheek before continuing.] I don't know how this'll work with the thought-sharin'. If ya get more'n mine... [She glances away.] ...I know I don't have ta ask you to keep my secrets. But if ya get those too, ya have ta keep 'em too. Ain't fair otherwise.
[Oh yeah, that was an issue now, wasn't it? It wasn't just her powers that could cause trouble now.] Yeah Rogue, I know. 'nd ya let me know if gets too hot for ya.
[As for what this mind link might show...] 'nything I see stays with me, 'nd... know ya will do the same. Though don't go blamin' me if I fall 'nto my normal way of puttin' off telepaths.
Ahh, either thinkin' of a real annoyin' song, or thinkin' of something really disgustin'. [Remy put on a grin as he said that and shrugged a shoulder.] Tends to make most of them get out of ya head pretty fast.
[Oh, that wasn't as bad as she thought it'd be. Still, she sighed and rested her head back against the trunk.] The point of it is ta share somethin'. We'll be here all night if ya just try an' keep me out.
[...and her hand would definitely burn if she tried to hold his all night. She'd be able to heal it after, but she didn't want to do that to either of them. Opening her eyes, she glanced over at him with a small smile before confessing:] This is really weird for me.
I think this whole planet be weird for ya, [It was delivered with a smile, before vanishing and Remy nodded his head.] I know, cherie, 'nd know I probably ain't the homme who should be here doin' this with ya, so I be very thankful ya agreed to do this with me.
[A pause and a sigh later, Remy held out his hand to her's, having slipped off his own glove before offering his hand.]
[She gave him a brief, warm smile.] Well, if somebody had ta have ya runnin' around in their head, it might as well be me. [After all, it wasn't the first time. And it wasn't as if Loki had expressed any interest in the tree, so... here they were.
She looked at his bare hand and took a moment or two to herself before taking off a single glove as well.] ...alright. Here goes nothin'.
[And... Huh, well... this was better than expected, although maybe it was the case that Remy was expecting it to be closer to how her powers worked. Holding still for several long moments, they started to stretch into something edging towards awkward.
'Quick, make a joke'.] So... come here often? [Yep, perfect! Nailed it! ...or not.]
[His hand was uncomfortably warm, but not painfully so. It was a a little weird to be... doing this at all, actually. Doing it with someone who wasn't Loki on top of that added a layer of bizarre. She didn't look at him, though. She looked at their hands and then straight ahead, resting her head against the tree and waiting for something to happen.
Sorry. ['Ya have no idea'. There was just a need to fill the air, although truth be told it was certainly easier to just sit in silence with her than most, if it wasn't for the fact she was so fun to annoy. That thought alone made the corner of his mouth raise a touch into a smile, a warm feeling towards their bizarre little friendship crossing over the link they had.]
This is kinda weird though, non? Like... bein' an empath or something, mixed with just a dose of telepathy. [Remy was also carefully keeping his hand still for the moment, as if any movement to it would be too much on top of everything else that was happening.]
[She felt the little jolt of warmth over their connection and gave him a startled glance before smiling at him. Warmth sparked its own warmth and... yeah, he was her friend. The connection would give him a glimpse into what that meant to her.]
Empathy's... kinda addictive when you've got it. [She couldn't help but remember when she had possessed that power, and a low note of sadness rang through their connection. 'Anja...'] It ain't offensive, not unless ya grab hold of someone an' try to overwhelm them with sadness or somethin', but I think it'd be a neat power ta have. It's the sort of thing that can... help.
['Oh...' His hand grip did change with that, moving to actually hold her hand and give it a squeeze rather than just letting them lie palm to palm. He knew loss far too well, but not the idea of losing a child. There was no pity towards Rogue about it, but certainly more than enough empathy for what she had gone through.] Can ya even 'magine a codename for someone usin' it for 'evil'. Mr Sad, the Gloomy Doom Bringer. [Yes, he couldn't help it, he wanted to wipe that moment of sadness from her mind by hiding it behind silly jokes.] Captain Moodswings.

[Because of course she'd keep his secrets. She always had. And she trusted him with hers, if it came to that. He'd earned it.]

Rogue snorted.] Nice try, Cajun.
