[Sure, she hadn't really seen him since he'd arrived, but that didn't mean Rogue wouldn't be able to find him. There was only one bar in town, after all.

This was likely to be a little bit awkward, but at least it would be quick.]

[He wasn't THAT predictable, was he? Ok, maybe he was. Hell! The bar had alcohol, chance to gamble against suckers, and shelter from the cold outside. Remy had clearly been able to sneak around a couple of the stores while she wasn't there, as he had gained a handful of his old stuff back, including his beloved trench coat and a good supply of cards. He still had some stuff to pick up, but there was no rush for those.]

[For now, he was trying to fling cards one at a time across the room into an empty trash bin. Comfortably seated, his feet propped up on a table top and leaning heavily back in his chair, a half empty beer glass and couple of empty shot glasses sat on the table beside him.]

[Seeing the way he was sitting made Rogue tempted to kick out the legs from under his chair. Maybe not a full kick, maybe just a little tap... but it was too easy.

All in all, it would be better if she just sat on the chair adjoining his.

...she compromised with herself and sat on the table between him and the trash bin.]

[The next card was just leaving his fingers as she sat down, and despite snatching his hand back out to try and grab the card, Remy missed. Since its original target was now obscured it found a new one, the center of her forehead.]

[As the card made contact then bounced off her, Remy was unable to stop himself, letting out a laugh and rocking a bit too far back in his chair that he had to quickly adjust his balance so not to fall backwards to the floor. Readjusting his seat, his laugh lessened to a chuckle and he let the rest of the cards rest against his thigh.]

Bonjour cherie, nice for ya to drop in.

[Her immediate impulse was to take advantage of him rocking too far back in his chair by kicking it further. Clearly, she's been spending too much time with Asgardians. Rogue frowned at him as he laughed before her frown turned into something more resembling a smirk.]

That's exactly why I did drop by. Ta be nice. An' you -- [she picked the card up and held it between her two fingers, sighting him with it.] -- had better watch your balance.

[She flicked the card back at him without any particular force. She'd be perfectly content if it just landed on his lap.]

Yes Mom. [Since the return of his card wasn't a violent one, Remy made no attempt to catch or divert its path, allowing it to land harmlessly against him. Instead he picked up his beer, eyeing her over the rim as he drunk from it.]

[Mouthful finished, he returned it to its spot before speaking.] What can I do for ya? [And picked up another card, tilting his head just enough to see around her and to the trash can, before letting it fly, curving it enough to swing wide around her, before landing it in the bin.]

[Rogue realized immediately that she could probably get him to come if she phrased it that way; said that she needed help cooking or wanted some spice in the dinner or... something. But then, not only would he try and lord it over her, he'd probably try to make it like he really had done her a favor.

Why did he have to make everything so difficult?]

This ain't about anyone doin' anything thing for anyone else. Not me for you, or you for me. [She shrugged a little.] It's about bein' from the same country in the same world.

Whoa, whoa, easy cherie, didn' mean anything by that. Just makin' conversation.

[Merde, talk about biting his head off already. He had barely said two lines to her. Someone clearly got out the wrong side of the bed this morning.]

[Rogue raised an eyebrow, not seeing what he was getting defensive about. She'd just been telling him like it was. She gave him a wry smile.]

Maybe you should work on that too.

[Her gaze flicked from him to the bar stool Logan usually occupied. He wouldn't be there again any time soon. She bit the inside of her lip and then returned her attention to Gambit.]

So seein' as we're from the same country, I thought you might be interested in comin' over for Thanksgiving.

[Wow, there were about a thousand ways she could have said that better. Rogue braced for laughter.]

[Prepared to come back with some smart remark about able to take advice but never use it himself, Remy stopped mid thought and raised an eyebrow at her.]

'nd this would all take place.... where? With the X-Men? [He let out a low whistle as he used his feet to rock the chair a bit on its hind legs.] That a smart thing to do?

Is keepin' yourself cut off from everyone a smart thing to do? [She countered, not even looking at his chair. She thought about saying that he'd done it once before, even before they had become friendly. But she didn't think that would help.] This world is not a friendly place. Sooner or later, we're gonna get sent out on a draft together, or maybe Luceti will be invaded again. Either way, it wouldn't hurt ta get to know the people who are tryin' not to die right alongside you.

[Well, this conversation had taken a different turn than he expected, it made trying to keep it light a challenge. Not that Remy wouldn't try.] Hey, I'm amazin', I don't need anyone else.

[But it wasn't a stupid idea. Sure, he still thought this was all temporary, his stay in Luceti, but everyone needed a local network to survive. The fact they seemed to be at war left a bitter taste in his mouth. Being able to trust your allies was important. He had it with Johnny and Piotr with the Acolytes, he had it with his family in the Guild, he was going to need it here. Trying to change peoples mindsets that he wasn't the 'bad guy' in it all, might be a little tough, but hell, could be fun.]

Ya need me to bring anythin'?

[This wasn't the same Rogue that Remy had kidnapped. This was a veteran of five Luceti drafts, a girl who had for a little while been the Oldest X-Man In Charge, and someone who was finally, finally coming to terms that she might be of value in spite of her skin. This wasn't a side of her she liked to show often; when responsibility wasn't terrifying, it still sucked. But with Logan, Scott, and Kitty gone... it was important not to hide anymore. So her response was a little sober, echoing with her remembered isolation.]

Everybody needs somebody else. [She shook her head then and smirked a little.] Even if it's someone else to do some decent cookin'. Bring whatever ya like, just make sure there's plenty of it.

Can do.

[Well, Mattie would be proud of him at least, playing nice and making friends. And hell, would be nice for some more company... on that thought.]

Ya ok if I invite Wanda 'long? [Ok, the girl was a little anti X-Men... hell, a lot anti X-Men, but seemed sad and even a little wrong to leave her out of the little gathering of those from their world.]

I'm pretty sure Storm beat ya to it. [Rogue shrugged.] but it probably wouldn't hurt if she knew you were coming along.

[Before Lucetiville, Rogue would have said Wanda would have turned down Storm on principle. Now she wasn't so sure.]

Storm? They close here? [Or the older woman could just be playing nice, she came across like that. Very much the matriarch of the group.]

[Rogue lifted a gloved hand back parallel to the ground and tilted it back and forth.]

It's a long story. [And not hers to tell.] Lotta crazy things can happen in this town.

[Remy shrugged it off. Eh, was he really that interested anyway? Most likely not, more just curiosity than anything.] Have noticed that.

[Pulling out a cigarette from the inside of his coat, he lit it and left it to rest between his lips as he picked up his cards again.] 'nything else while ya got me all to yaself, Roguey?

[Roguey. Ha. You'd think there would be one of them that wouldn't come up with that ridiculous name.

Rogue leaned forward and smirked.]

You wish, Swamp Rat.

[She stood and gave him a casual salute.]

Swamp Rat? [Huh, that's a new one.]

[It is after one of Remy and Jean's intense, sweaty ball games that they're off to the side of the court, re-hydrating. The name of the game today was basketball, and Remy always makes for a good opponent, even if he doesn't always stick to the rules. In a sports-tank and bike shorts, Jean's hair is piled into one voluminous pony tail. As she finishes sucking down the last remnants from her water bottle, she sits heavily back on the Battle Dome simulated bleacher, flopping on her back for a moment, before sitting back up, one leg propped up, the other on the floor. ]

[Minus the shirt, Remy's own attire isn't too off hers, in shorts only with his outer layers left on the edge of the court. He couldn't help it, any excuse for him to strip off a bit, it was just in his make up. Yet these games had started to illustrate to him one of the more annoying aspects of growing his hair out, it got in the way. A few more months and he would be able to pull it back, but for now it was a hassle.

Might call for a bandanna...]

Same time next week?

Count on it. [She grinned at him. A good challenge, and certainly easy on the eyes; yep. This little weekly get together of theirs was not at all something she minded. ] Unless, of course, I'm swept off my feet in a whirlwind romance this Saturday. But. I don't see that happening.

Quoi? [He asked, using his teeth to open the mouth of his waterbottle.]

Ya findin' yaself a beau? [Maybe not a bad idea, the girl was so down about Scott leaving, may as well have some fun instead of wallowing on what could had been.]

Could be, could be. [She was indeed still depressed about Scott, but she was trying her hardest not to let on, and to not let it get to her. She would be disappointed to know she was so transparent, to Remy if no one else.] I'm going to that speed dating thing Billy and Teddy are putting on. Never know who you'll meet at something like that!
